Exporting 3D Pdf issues

Hello,

I am having some real issues trying to export a 3D into a Pdf. Essentially every time we export the pdf creates tiles of the image, up to 6 on a plot of 1:50 A3. This does not happen in 2D. I am totally stumped!

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous!

some questions:

  • which version of AutoCAD are you using (and update/service pack)?
  • which driver did you use in the PLOT-dialog (I would suggest to use "DWG to PDF.pc3")

Hello Alfred,

We upgraded to 2018 last week

I have just tried DWG - PDF and it now comes out as two tiles once exported. As mentioned previously, this is only with the ISO 3D

Q: did you ever export to 3D PDF from AutoCAD alone before upgrading to 2018?
And which driver did you do it with?

AFAIK you need to use another software or PDF driver capable of that output.

Hello Dean,

We were using 2015 and we use Creative Cloud for acrobat / pdf and we could quite easily export from the 3D model to create a Pdf. We have updated the service packs, but still no change and multi tile images still being produced when we export. We are now uninstalling and reverting back to 2016 and see where that takes us. Unfortunately technical support wont be calling us until Friday!

Sadly you will need to get help from your PDF driver software vendor: AutoCAD has yet to be made capable of the task of 3DPDF creation. Autodesk wants you to use DWF instead for that ability.

Your topic title should have said something about your PDF driver to catch more targeted users of the same product.

Hang i there, you never know who might drift in and why.

Hi,

Thanks

We downloaded 2016 and it works fine, seems to be a 2018 issue.

They probably have a limit up to 2017 before the format changes with 2018: that is common with 3rd party applications sometimes. Good luck.
