Error messages when saving....

Every time I save I keep getting this error message. "

You have D:\BAK\18601.bak open. This file must be saved to complete the addition of page setup overrides for the sheet set." anyone know why I am getting this message so I can get it to stop? It happens with every drawing I save.

If you restart WIndows, does the problem go away?

If not, can you navigate to D:\BAK\18601.bak and remove these files?

No I still have the error even after restarting the computer. Also it do it to any file I open up that I haven't opened up before on this computer.

Can you navigate to D:\BAK\18601.bak and remove these files?

Or is that a plug in drive you made a mistake of opening once with AutoCAD?

I can navigate there and delete it but as soon as I save again for that drawing the error pops up and autocad does put a file in that folder. I not sure if I understand your next question but the drive it is going to is an internal hard drive and I haven't tried ever to open the file.

Hi,

>> Every time I save I keep getting this error message

If you run command _SAVEAS (instead of save) and you give the drawing file a new name, do you also get the same message?

When you login to your system with another Windows user account, start AutoCAD there and do the same actions with _SAVE, does the same message pop up?

If then all works file you might reset the AutoCAD profile (>>>details<<<) for your default user accoun .... after backup of your customizations!

You might also verify that you have the current service pack for AutoCAD installed (>>>AutoCAD service packs<<<).

Greetings!

Have you had a chance to try Alfred's last suggestion? They were to log on as a different Windows user, and to also try using SAVEAS. How did they work out for you?

Additionally, I would advise you to try opening any of the sample sheet set files that are included with AutoCAD. You'll find them in the C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 201x\Sample\Sheet Sets folder. Do you get the same problem when using those?

Please post back here whether or not this is still an issue for you, and, if so, the results of these suggested tests.

Thanks!

I couldnt get it to do it when I logged into a different user. But I noticed that autocad still saves a backup even tho it states the file need to be closed so I think I might just not worry about it since it is saveing to the bak folder.

We are having this issue with Civil 3D 2016.

The message again was:

You have e:\ACADBackups\C3D2016\blah.bak open. This file must be saved to complete the addition of page overrides for the sheet set.

It is related to the movebak command. We ran the movebak command to save the files to a folder on the local E: drive. E:\ACADBackups\C3D2016. Notice no spaces, per:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Unders...

When the "Movebak ." command was run, resetting the bak files to save to their default location(where the master file resides), the error message went away. However, we would like the Movebak command to save to the local hard drive without issue. This does work in 2013 and 2015 we only see the issue in 2016. Is this something that could be addressed? It would help save network bandwidth, declutter the file server and save its storage space as well.

Thank you for your assistance.

Yes, this is related to MOVEBAK as @Anonymous says. Who knows what they changed in the QSAVE Command, but something about 2016 and later doesn't like MOVEBAK.
