I would like to know of a few good resources to use to learn how to work in the 3D aspect of autocad. I have been mostly working with Lt in a 2d enviroment for years, and I am now modeling in autocad.

Hi,

@lee.pellegrin
>> ... to learn how to work in the 3D aspect of autocad.

It depends on a combination of things... starting with self-learning, experimenting with commands, and reading help (F1). Then watching videos online... and of course, going back here to the forum and asking what's holding you back.😊

Well, for starters, when I run the vport command, and select NEw, I am not able to rotate in model space to define my view. I have to unlock the viewport, rotate, and move to where I want to be. My current process is cumbersom and I would like to streamline it. I have thought about creating a named view and bringing it in that way, but I am not sure if there is a better way than those two methods?

Final result is to create a viewport without using mview.

I'm not sure i understand the problem. Venturing a guess, you can choose one of the standard rotated views when creating your view port.

When you are creating a new view you have to change the setup to 3D

Once you do that you can select all the standard views

If you have multiple viewports you click black box areas to select the viewport and you can select an independent view for each.

That said if you want a custom view that is what named views are for.
