DXF file help. Origin not showing by default.

This is a hybrid autocad/inventor question I beleive.

I use "export sketch as dxf" for our CNC programs.

I open the dxf in autocad to add any mods to the profile for programming.

Every time I open it up my origin isn't on (in model space) as well as snap mode is on. I think this is all by default.

So is there a way in autocad set up that I can have this origin shown as default in model space as well as snap  mode being off?

I looked at the export options in inventor and it doesn't get that specific.

thank you all in advance

Hi @Anonymous

I am not sure what you mean by 'Origin'.  Do you mean the UCS icon? You can use the UCSICON command to turn it on.

For the OSNAPS, you can obviously use the F3 to toggle them on or off but you can also use the OSNAP Settings to configure which (if any) snaps are configured by default.

yes that is known.

This is when i open a dxf file. I want the origin to show and UCSICON to be on by default. Also i want the snap to be off by default. I do not want to do this for 50 plus programs over and over,

my regular .dwg files maintain these settings

Snap, if you mean running objects snap, is stored in your Acad Profile.

Open Acad, set your osnap setting, close Acad.
Now it SHOULD your setup for every time when you start Acad with that profile or switch to them, until you change it.

UCSICON (see Acadhelp) is stored in dwg/dxf files, so it is only possible to predefine it if you are using a template file for your inventor dxf export.

With sbapmode is the same like ucsicon, stored in drawing file.
Use a template, set your ucsicon and snapmode.

I solved my own problem haha.

So specifically for this option in inventor

snap1.PNG

I created a template and saved a configuration.

snap2.PNG

So now every time I export with that configuration it works.

I guess i should have posted this in inventor. However I am using both programs . I thought it would be more on the autocad side.

thank you all for your input
