Drawing File is not valid

Hello,

I saved a dwg file on a USB stick. 

Now it won't open anymore.

I have tried recovery, insert,... but it keeps saying "Drawing file is not valid" 

From my point of view the file is still ok, as I can see it in "preview" 

Also, I do not have a BAK file...

Does anyone have an idea how to solve it?

Never store the only copy on a USB-Stick

Never have just one copy.. and if so:

not on a simple Stick

and if so: Use the secure remove feature for USB Devices

I checked the file and the first lines lokks well, but then.. I guess we can't repair that file (I can not).

The preview is just a stupid picture, nothing to do with the current content,

but it gives a small piece of hope that Windows/ACAD can read the picture(thumbnail) from the file.

Why not? Use the ISAVEBAK(=1) feature and do not delete the bak files. Why? You know why..

you can refer to this LINK or you can try to open another program like briscad or zwcad, download them for trial version and see if helps. thanks

Saved to it? As in you used SAVE or SAVEAS command from inside AutoCAD? That probably did not complete, those cheap drives burn up easily.
Did you not QSAVE to your PC first?

FYI Thumb drives cost a nickel to make, they are then priced based on "what the market will pay". That's cheaper than gum.
