I think because of the mandatory subscription contract thingee and the abillity to go back a few versions and get a sn/pkey for it and the VIRTUAL AGENT which may be where they are tyring to send you and cloud options, etc......Autodesk seemingly has made dowloading software (that you are eligible for) a smooth back and forth, mix and match buffet. I think there opinion is " what ya need pal.....sure.....download it......need another.....go ahead.....oh...want to go back.....sure .......swoosh!!"

a turbulent parallel to "a paperless project"..............a "disc-less" era we've entered or trend anyhow.
let me add some confusion to the issue:
When I received the “order processed” from Autodesk with the links to download the license, it contained the following verbiage as footnote No. 2:
“…….If you purchased your product for download ……..be aware that the download may not be available after one year from the purchase date. Be sure to copy the software in case you need to reinstall it later.”
I’m not quite sure what this means exactly.
