Disable Shared Views?

Any way to disable Shared Views in AutoCAD 2019?  Preferably with a registry setting that could be pushed via Group Policy. Management doesn't want sensitive documents shared to the web.

Hi,

>> Any way to disable Shared Views in AutoCAD 2019?

There is no switch to disable that function, you might load a small LISP that disables the command (but that is not a solution, your users can find the way to re-enable the command).

Best option: TRAINING!

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

There is no way currently to disable the shared views  but I will bring this up with the team as I certainly understand your concerns.

You are also welcome to contact the product team directly. If you have additional comments specific to the software or its functionality for future consideration, please use the Product Feedback page. How to provide feedback on Autodesk products goes into more detail.

Another great option is to participate in the AutoCAD Customer Council. This is an opportunity for our customers to partner with the AutoCAD development team to improve future releases of AutoCAD by giving continuous feedback on ideas, designs, and early builds.

John, thanks for the reply. Is there a way to restrict sharing to the local subnet or other approved IPs rather than out to the cloud (which is where I'm assuming they're being held)?

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry for the delay in getting back to you.  The Shared Views feature require subscription entitlement in the account portal. If you have a central CAD Manager who configures features for each user, you could enable or disable the Shared View entitlement.

If this does not work I can see if there is a firewall setting that could block a port or specific feature to get this to not allow the Shared Views out of the office.

John,

Thanks for the reply. I'll check to see if they're purchasing this subscription. I would be interested in knowing if we could block this via firewall, etc. Does the shared views upload to a specific server? We might block that IP.

HI @Anonymous,

The shared views feature will not work if the users do not have a subscription. If you are on a maintenance license for your users then there is nothing left to do as the Shared Views feature will not work.

This feature uses port 443 so I don't suggest that you close the port or you hill have problems using https.

Here is a quick description to how one manages seats.  If you are comfortable with this functionality, and your licenses are on subscription, then you you should be able to remove the entitlement for your users.
