Did SOLIDEDIT commands change from AutoCAD 2014 to 2017?

Dear AutoCAD Friends,

Recently updated to AutoCAD 2017 from 2014.

Have the SOLIDEDIT commands changed?  Do I have a toggle (an option) switched incorrectly?

Seems like the new 2017 SOLIDEDIT commands are much more monotonous — difficult to work with than 2014.  I am having to take extra steps when editing — such as manually repositioning the UCS — use a plane for slicing — etc.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks all,

Rocky

Hi @Anonymous,

There are a few things that have changed between AutoCAD 2014 and AutoCAD 2017, which might affect the way you create, edit, and navigate 3D models.

Take a look at the changes in the preview guides via the following links (I'll put the page numbers for 3D enhancements in parentheses for clarity):

You might also find these solid editing webinars helpful, which cover the commands and their functionality in both AutoCAD 2016 and AutoCAD 2017:

If you're having specific trouble with one or more of the SOLIDEDIT commands, could you record a quick Screencast to show us exactly what's going wrong for you?

I haven't found much that is different e.g. I've always had to specify a plane for SLICE, whether it's by 3 points or aligned with an axis.  Perhaps you could give a more concrete example?

It's possible you've made changes in the 2014 release and not applied them to the 2017 release.  Maybe start with the setting for dynamic UCS and 3D object snaps.

Dear AutoCAD colleagues,

I think that I may have just learned that one reply covers all.

Sorry for the duplicated replies.

Thanks again,

Rocky

Dear AutoCAD colleagues,

My apologies for not responding previously — I have been slammed here at work.

I greatly appreciate the solutions / suggestions provided; however, I still have questions.

I plan on uploading a screencast when time permits — offering examples of the SOLIDEDIT issues that I am experiencing.

Many thanks to you all,

Rocky

Two examples of changes in the SOLIDEDIT commands.

I hope this Screencast works — my first try.
