Data Link .xlsx

I have linked an Excel .xlsx file to several of my drawings and the link works. I can update the table from Excel and vice versa. The External Reference always shows a bad link. When I try to fix the link in External References xlxs is not recognized only xls. Do I have to save all of my tables as xls just for AutoCAD? Why can I create a Data Link using xlsx but then the reference does not recognize it?

This appears to be a known issue and it has already been logged with development. You can either save your Excel files as .xls files or use the workaround below:

Workaround is to "Edit" the "Datalink".
  • Insert Ribbon tab, Linking & Extraction panel, select "Data Link"
  • Right click the "Datalink" in question and select Edit
  • Reselect the corresponding .XLSX file

This is STILL a known bug with no fix.
