Data Extraction Missing Files

Hello -

I'm having an issue with the Data Extraction Wizard, and I'm wondering if there is a solution that I haven't thought of. I have three files, each containing about 400 or 500 blocks that I want to run a dataextraction on. When I run the data extraction from one file, the first thing I do is add the other two drawings in to the data extraction. The blocks show up from all three files in the "Select Objects" palette, but when I reach the preview page, or the export itself, I am usually missing one or two of the drawings' worth of blocks. Sometimes it will only extract from the current file (whichever of the three that is), sometimes it will include one of the other two, seemingly at random.

What makes this particularly annoying is that this issue just appeared "overnight", ie. there were no major changes to the drawing types or setups between when I could easily dataextract from all three, and when this issue showed up. I have since audited all three drawings in case that would help...it did not.

Any insight into why this might be happening, or other suggestions on how to get all three files to show up in the data extraction would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Does the issue occur if you run data extraction:

1. From within each dwg individually?

2. From one of the other dwg with the others attached as xrefs?

Hi @paullimapa -

   1. Yes, I have tried this in all three files. Sometimes it will only extract from the current file (whichever of the three that is), sometimes it will include one of the other two, seemingly at random. It will always extract from the current file.

   2. Are you suggesting attaching the two other files to one as an xref? I could try this, but it's not an ideal workflow, as they'd have to be removed after every data extraction to continue work. Also, data extracting from xrefs would pull in thousands of more blocks from background drawings that I would prefer not to sort through.

Any additional thoughts would be appreciated, and thanks -
