Crosshairs Badge - 2015 Service Pack

Hi again guys,

Another "quick" one.  I'm trying to get rid of the cursor badge, and everything I read says to download service pack 1 for 2015.  I'm running 2016, do I still need 2015 service pack 1?  Or something else?

Many thanks,

Mark

Turn it off by CURSORBADGE system variable to 1 and after installing SP. service packs because this variable is available only after you install AutoCAD 2015 Service Pack

OK, but WHICH service pack?

Is 2015 SP the right one to use for 2016 program?

Nope, no good.  Both 1 & 2 look and perform exactly the same, the cursorbadge does not turn off.

let's make sure that's we're talking about the same issue :

- after you download AutoCAD 2015 SP2 .... you have to restart AutoCAD.

- what happened when you type CURSORBADGE ?

- would you please show us the image of your cursor as an image?

When the CURSORBADGE system variable is set to 1, cursor badges used in AREA, COPY, DIST, ERASE, ID, LIST, MASSPROP, MEASUREGEOM, MOVE, ROTATE, SCALE, TRIM, and ZOOM commands are turned off.

Waiting......

Hi Mark,

It is generally a good idea to apply the hotfixes and service packs that apply to your specific release version. Downloads are available here.

CURSORBADGE is a system variable that you can adjust. Here is an AKN Article that describes how it can be used.

Can you describe what you are seeing or not seeing so I can assist you further?

Here's the error msg I get when I try to install/use the SP, and it's SP 1, not 2 that I'm told to download/install.  Also, I have NOT restarted ACAD yet, didn't know I was supposed to.

Mark,

Please do a re-boot and then go to the download link I sent you earlier. From there make sure that you specify your product version (2016) to see the downloads that only apply to your product. Please let me know if you continue to see errors when trying to install the service packs.

My apologies for my tardiness in replying Gents, a bit hectic last week, I was out ill this week, and yesterday was playing catch-up from the time I'd missed.

I did have the IT guy load the 2016 service pack, and I thought we rebooted the computer after that, I'll do it again right now just to make sure, and be back in 5...

We've installed, and I rebooted, but I'm still not seeing any difference.

Allow me to explain.  The tag that is attached to the cursor, says typical things like...   When I press "E" for erase, the tag says "Select objects:"  But it stays, causing a barrier so I can't see what's behind the phrase to select.  This may or may not be the cursor badge.

If this IS the cursor badge, then whether I select 1 or 2, there appears to be no difference for me.

The annoying part of this feature is that when I type in my commands, the command appears in the command window (command box), but sub commands appear next to the cursor, not in the command window, so part of the time I'm confused about where I'm at in the command, and end up having to do the command over.

What I want, is to remove this dialogue box from the cursor altogether, so the cursor is just a cursor, no tags, no dialogue box, just the crosshairs and pick box, and that's all.

Does this clarify anything?

Again, my thanks and apologies to you good folk

Mark

Set DYNMODE =0 and see if that fixes the issue for you.

John, I love you!

In a humbling, professional, I-was-pulling-my-hair-out-from-frustration-and-you-gave-me-the-answer kind of way, of course...

Upon re-reading through the whole conversation, it dawned on me that I may have inadvertently misled or miscommunicated the beginning of a different path, and by doing so, you guys were eager to help, I had just pointed everyone in the wrong direction.  My apologies for that.

Thanks guys!
