Hi! I am a beginner in autocad and I would like to create a 3d text like the picture below. If you're looking in the front view, you can only see the letter M and if you look at the side view you could only see the letter N. Could you give me a step by step instruction on how to do it exactly liked the attached picture below? I tried to use the text tool but it seems that it is much better if I would just use a box then extrude those. Is it the best way to do it?

I would do one of the following methods:
Method 1:
- Create the letter M and letter N using basic line command (outline form) and then use Press/Pull to make it look thick
- Select the extruded N and move/rotate it accordingly
Method 2:
- Create the letter M and the letter N via the dtext command separately. Check under Express Tools to see if there is an explode command to take them to linework....then do method 1 via Press/Pull.

Depending on your font choice this might not be too hard to do.
I used Arial for this example. I created two pieces of Mtext (M and N)
I then used the Express Tools Text Explode (TXTEXP)
I then cleaned up the letter outlines and joined them into plines.
Next, I presspulled each one to the width of the leg of the M.
I then rotated the N and attached it to the leg of the M.

To perform the operations described, you will need to become familiar with the following commands:
TXTEXP, EXTRUDE, UNION
3DORBIT for changing 3D views, visual styles, projection style, PLAN to return to a 2D plan view
UCS ZAxis option to establish an axis for 3D rotation, UCS World option to return the UCS
ROTATE, MOVE, COPY of course
If you plan to create your own letters, then I'd suggest creating them using ordinary geometry. To create closed polylines for extrusion from the geometry, use the BOUNDARY command.
