I have a problem with jittery and crashey drawings when I specifically drafting lines orthogonally over point clouds and UCS’ that have been rotated.
To explain more precisely. I am CAD technician who drafts elevations of buildings from scan point clouds. The data (the scan point cloud) comes from site into Recap and out again as an .rcs file and is inserted into AutoCAD 2018. As the default view is birds eye this is no good so I have to set up a view along the elevation I wish to draft and the rotate the view with the cube so I am looking at it in ‘Front’ view.
When it is in front view I need to rotate the UCS axis again as Z is pointing up (where Y should be), X is pointing right (where it should be) and Y is towards/backwards (where Z should be). I rectify this by rotating the X axis by 270 and voila I can the draft away. My problem occurs when I draft with the F8 Ortho lock on. It does not like it all and when I click line and start to draw up or down the background drawing will flash, distort and sometimes crash altogether. At the moment I am struggling without F8 on but its not producing the neatest drawings.
I cant really do a photo, but I could do a video and upload to you tube.
What is going wrong?
