Combining Surfaces

Hello,

I have a solid terrain created by contours. The top surface of solid is collection +500 small surfaces. I do need to combine all top surfaces and make them as one surface to be able to create a mesh in another pre-processor for meshing procedure. Can anyone help me out please?. The file is attached in case you wanna look at it. Thank you.

Regards,

King Regards,

Well, the command name, at least for the time being, is DrpCon (Drape Contours).  As you can see though, it remains "in development".  I may devote a bit of time to polish it up if there seems to be interest in the process.

No timeline.  Now that I see that there is some interest, though,  I'll put some effort towards it.  I'll reply back to this thread when I get a beta version ready.  Eventually I'll probably include it with the 2018 compatible version of the STSC_HeightMap routine.

Dear @SEANT61,

Once I looked at your file, I realized the dimensions of the solid are the as I want. Would you mind doing the same process with a base thickness of 100 m. The attached file has both contours and the requested solid shape. Can you please create a solid approximately similar to this example? Thank you.

Dear @SEANT61,

the solid you have created doesn't have the similar dimensions as I would like to have. Would you mind creating a new solid with the code that you developed ? The attached files have contours  and a solid that is supposed to be obtained. Can you please try one more time? Thank you

See if this will work for you.  The base of the solid is slightly smaller as the routine currently requires a selection rectangle within the bounds of the contours.

Hello @SEANT61,

Are you able to increase the resolutio? Because I discovered that the as the resolution increases, the topographic features get close to the size of structure. I would appreciate if you increase the resolution as much as you can. Thank you .

I've upped the resolution by 4 (2 in U, 2 in V).  But I've also left it as a Lofted Surface.  You may be able to manually tweak the cross sections or guides to better match the contours if needed.  That modified surface can be used in a Solid3D Slice operation.  The data, thus file size, is increasing geometrically, though.  But see how it works out.

Dear @SEANT61,

I think I dont know hot create a solid from surface in AutoCAD Civil 3D. I have been creating solids from contours  using AutoCAD Architecture  (_DRAPE function). Would you please tell me which command do you use to create the solid in Civil 3D for my case ? Thank you.

I just used the AutoCAD command "Slice".

Create a Solid3D box with the appropriate footprint and sufficient height to extend beyond the highest point of the lofted surface.  The Slice command has a sub-option to use a surface as the slicing entity.
