Does AutoCAD 2017 allow you to change over to classic view?

First thing you are in the incorrect forum.  This forum is solely used for installation and licensing issues of Autodesk products.  This type of question should be posted over in the AutoCAD Forum.

But to answer your question..  You can but its a manual process.   My suggestion..  Stop hanging onto legacy viewing configuration..  Smiley Very Happy

Hello @Anonymous,

Sure, you can easily make this change and recreate the AutoCAD Classic workspace by following the steps below:

  1. To display the menu, click Quick Access Toolbar drop-down > Show Menu Bar.
  2. To hide the ribbon, click Tools menu > Palettes > Ribbon.
  3. To display the toolbars you require:
    1. Click Tools menu > Toolbars and select the required toolbar.
    2. Repeat until all required toolbars are visible.
  4. To save the workspace:
    1. Click Tools menu > Workspaces > Save Current As.
    2. In the Save Workspace dialog box, in the Name box, type AutoCAD Classic.
    3. Click Save.

Let us know how it goes, I moved this post for you to the AutoCAD forum. Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

As much as I like to encourage users to adopt the newer interface since it has been around for so long already, I do have this list that should get you to a "Classic" type appearance fairly quickly.

MENUBAR = 1
Tools > toolbars > acad > layers
hoover over layers toolbar > right click > properties
hoover over any toolbar > right click > standard
hoover over any toolbar > right click > styles
hoover over any toolbar > right click > workspaces
RIBBONCLOSE
arrange toolbars
workspace, saveas, Classic

I read that since AutoCAD for MAC never had the classic view I cannot change the new view to classic view in AutoCAD 2017 for MAC.

Hello @Anonymous,

Sorry to hear that you will not be able to make the change because it is not available on a Mac operating system. I just wanted to let you know that there is a Mac-specific forum for AutoCAD in case you have any further questions in the future. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-for-mac-forum/bd-p/520

Thank you for reporting back with an update. Smiley Happy
