Hi,

While using the area tool in MEASUREGEOM command, when I measure a certain area is displayed. My question is how to change the unit of the area to inches or feet which is displayed

You don't for just area in the DWG file: you either change the whole file or nothing with the core commands.

It reports in square whatever-the-drawing-unit-is units.  If  you are using Architectural or Engineering units with the drawing unit being an inch, there's the little added "bonus" that it reports in both  square inches and square feet.  But I don't think there's any other reporting in more than one kind of unit built in.

If you want square feet only, either you need to be using a foot as a drawing unit [under Decimal or Fractional rather than Architectural or Engineering units setting], or you need some kind of customized AREA command to report that way.  I think this or a very similar question has come up before, so a little Searching may find such a command, or find a discussion of why it's not possible, or something.

Message 1 was about square inches or feet; now meters.  Is the idea to be able to report an area in [for example] square feet in a drawing whose drawing unit is [for example] a meter?  If that particular combination is the case, after an AREA command, put this in at the Command line:

(cvunit (getvar 'area) "sq_meter" "sq_foot")

I have an issue that I am hoping somebody can shed some light on as to how to fix. We are currently using CadWorx 2018 along with Autocad 2018. The company I work for is engineered pipe services company. We purchase some of our insulation in square feet thicknesses of 5mm and 10mm increments. We have calculated the square feet required in every pipe and insulation combination in an excel spreadsheet. For example, it takes .323 square feet of 5mm thick insulation on a 1/2" pipe with an O.D. of .840" for every liner foot. It takes .323 square feet of 5mm thick insulation and .529 square feet of 10mm thick insulation for 1/2" pipe with an O.D. of .840" to achieve 1/2"x15mm. Both 5mm and 10mm thick insulation have different part numbers. I want to know if I can draw the insulation as linear feet and get a report showing the square footage needed of both insulation thicknesses, showing both part numbers. We will be using Cadlink in the future, so this has to be usable in this software, along with ERP software used for purchasing and issuing material requisitions to our manufacturing shop. See attached excel spreadsheet showing the calculations.

Hey, you can also adjust the format to remove the unit when displaying the result as Area.
I found this when I put 'Area to divide' in sqm; the number completely changed.
