Change reference horizontal for an aligned dimension

Hi all,

I'm currently trying to update an xref file that was originally prepared using the world coordinate system, but for our plot we want to use a slightly rotated UCS. Problem is all the dimensions' text and leader landings are still aligned to the WCS rather than our new UCS.

Both the dimensions above use the same dimstyle, which has the text alignment set to horizontal and have all the other properties matched, the only difference being the one on the right has been created with the WCS and the one on the left with the UCS. Both also have text angle set to 0, and even if I manually change the text angle on the old dimension the leader still remains angled.

Is there a way to change the "reference horizontal" on the old dimensions without having to recreate all of them from scratch?

Just noticed a typo, should be obvious from context but the dimension on the *left* in the image was created with the UCS active

I don't have an answer for you yet, but you can edit your posts by clicking on the 3 vertical dots to the right of the timestamp and select Edit Reply.

Hi @Bartosz.WitkowskiV8Q7L, I found the following article on the issue: Incorrect dimension text or leader alignment in AutoCAD products. From what I can see, if the object was inserted using a UCS rather than the World UCS, the fix would be to re-insert the object using the World UCS. I am checking with our Product team to see if there are more efficient alternatives and will let you know what I find. Thanks for your patience.

Hi @Bartosz.WitkowskiV8Q7L, Hope you are doing well, my product team got back to me and suggested the following: 

• Use QSELECT to select all the dimensions and then try rotating them.

• If you only need the drawing rotated for plotting (without changing dimensions):

  1. Make sure you are in Model Space.

  2. Type DVIEW and press Enter.

  3. When prompted, type TW (for Twist) and press Enter.

  4. Enter the rotation angle you need (positive or negative).

  5. Press Enter to accept.

  
  DVIEW > Twist rotates only the view, not the drawing or coordinate system. This should keeps existing geometry and dimensions unchanged while giving you the rotated orientation needed for plotting.
