Cannot quit ACAD 2015 without Force Quit

ACAD 2015 for MAC will not shut down on it's own when I select "quit." The MAC 'rainbow spiral cursor' that indicates processing-is-underway will continue indefinitely as it tries to close the program until I select 'Force Quit' to close the program.

The fascinated part is that when a drawing I've created in my version on the MAC is opened on a PC workstation running ACAD 2010, the same problem will aflict that drawing's session - it connot be shut down properly.

Hi,

Welcome to the AutoCAD answer day!

The issue with AutoCAD for Mac it's a known problem, the developemnt team is working trying to find a solution. Please be sure to close all DWG prior to Quit AutoCAD.

What it's surprising it's the second part of your question, when a file comming from AutoCAD 2015 for MAc is open in AutoCAD 2010 (Win) that the system blocks in the same way.

Did you check if the file has any kind of corruption? Can be that the file was still open when closing AutoCAD for Mac and this produced some kind of damage in the file.

Please try to recover the file, if there is no corruption, please provide us a sample dwg to test and analyze it.

Thanks

I always close the drawings before quitting ACAD. But it still needs to be forced quit.

My neighbor and I tried to recreate the condition we had in which he had to ForceQuit ACAD2010 on his PC, but we couldn't get it to happen today... Maybe it was a one-time fluke with that dwg., but it happened for a few days with that file... If we find it happening again, I'll forward the file directly to you.

Thanks,
M

Hi Matt,

About the issue with Force Quit:
while the developers are working on this issue you can try this workaround which helps some users:
Close all drawings you were worked with, than create new drawing, don't make any changes in it - even don't zoom - than use AutoCAD -> Quit AutoCAD, or simply Cmd+Q shortcut.

Does it freezes on quit in this scenario?

Maxim

I have been experiencing this same problem on AutoCAD LT 2015 for Mac for quite a few months, so I hope that the fix is soon!
(LT Product Version J.51.M.313, iMac Retina 5K, Yosemite 10.10.3).

One thing I have found is that closing LT with any saved drawing still open "usually" works. I can't say "always" because I had to Force Quit so many times, I didn't necessarily keep track of whether a drawing was still open or not.

(BTW, CAD on a 27" 5K screen is highly recommended!)

Please share your AutoCAD Diagonistics Log with us. I believe it's the file / template too, but I'd lke to look at the reports.

Or atleast provide us a censored copied of your cad file.

In reply to Andrew Simon: Your link is for Windows. This thread is about AutoCAD for Mac, which has an option in the menus (or right-clicking on icon in dock) to "Force Quit." It is oftentimes necessary to use this technique, because trying to do a normal shutdown of AutoCAD on Mac often results in the "spinning beachball of death" (in other words, the application gets hung). Apparently, as an earlier post has indicated, this is an issue known to Autodesk developers. So far, I have not heard of any resolution.

Spinning BeachBall of Death! You just turned it from a bug into a feature.

Laughs for all, I apologize. My standard and common computer is a Mac, but I also use Windows at work. I cross tie the information sometimes Cat LOL

Has the Development Team found a solution to the Force Quit issue yet? I still experience this issue. Not every time, but at least half the time.

Has a solution came out on this?  We are having the same issue.

When we close AutoCAD we have to force it.
