DXF out only the layers that visually appear on screen.

I need to create CNC files from my model. In order to do this I have everything seperated into layers that I need to appear for the essentilas for these files. I am able to get out the correct CNC files that I need if I explode all of my dynamic blocks. What is happening is that if I do not explode I am getting all of the shapes that are contained within that dynamic block even though I only want the one that appears on the screen.

We are controlling the dynamic blocks with visibility states and layers. Basically there are for example 8 shapes that are within that nested dynamic block on my Holes layer. So on screen I am seeing the selected visibility state but when I create the DXF I am getting all of the shapes on that layer from all of the visibility states.

I would like to get away from exploding the blocks so that if in the future I needed to make a change I couls still have that option. So the question I have is how to I get out a DXF that actually only captures then layers, visibility states, and lines I visually see on screen.

As a note I have played around with freezing layers and this still does not work for me as I have the same results as listed above.

Hi xjer88,

Welcome to Autodesk Answer days.

Yes you are right, it is not possible to export parts of dynamic blocks without exploding.

The following alternative could help you to export only the visible part of the block.

Create new Plotter with Plottermanager using AutoCAD DXB file and plot the visible part to DXB file.

Import to AutoCAD can be done with DXBIN.

Unfortunately with these steps we will lose the layer Information.

Please let me know if that help.

Regards

Brigitte

Ok, I was thinking that I was stuck exploding the blocks although I was hoping that wouldnt be the case. We will make it work though. Thank you for the information, I will certainely play around with the DXB and see if I can make it work for what I am trying to do. Thanks for your help @Koesti
