Can't set UCS in a Viewport

My system just went from 2015 Mech to 2020 Mech.

I can set a UCS and have dimordinate work correctly in Model Space, in Paper Space

But when in a Viewport in Paperspace.  The UCS will not set.  Changing the origin does nothing.

If I try to set the UCS in a random space in a viewport.  It works but that's useless to me.  If I snap the UCS to a point it doesn't take.  The origin changes to that location.  But dimordinate won't acknowledge it as having moved.

I am literally not doing anything different than what worked in AutoCAD 2015 Mechanical.  Before you just type UCS, select a snap point and then dimension from that point as your X,Y / 0,0  kind of thing.

If I set the UCS on an angle or right to left.  It will do dimordinates on an angle, it will put the dimension upside down.  But the numbers aren't conguent with the 0,0 starting point of where I wanted the UCS origin to be.

Any thoughts?  Gotta be some stupid setting controlling this.....

Ok so a follow up to this.....if I turn a layer off in a viewport with Layoff....it turns off.....if I use Layon  it won't come back on.  That process works in Paperspace and model space but in a viewport it won't turn back on.  If I check model space the layer is on.  If I look at the viewport the layer is off, if you check up top in the menu the layer is on.....I mean VIEWPORTS are completely messed up here!!!!!

Ok this is because when I type layoff instead of turning the layer off in the viewport, it's freezing the layer but only in THAT viewport.  Why the hell does Autodesk do stuff like this???????????  Now I gotta figure out how to fix this now.

Ok the layers freezing with layoff is a completely separate issue I just fixed unrelated to the UCS issue in viewports!  What a joke!

LAYOFF >Settings > VIEWPORTS > you probably do not want the default setting of VPFREEZE.

Look up LAYOFF command usage in HELP for more details.

Yep like I said I fixed the layoff default setting of vpfreeze.  It's unrelated to the UCS problem of UCS origin not working while in a viewport.

I can reproduce that here, and you can see that the dimension node is not being placed at 0,0 but at another location.  Dragging those nodes to the new UCS origin point will set the dims correctly.

Thanks, I was aware of this ability.  This still does not address the fact that a UCS Origin cannot be set from within a Viewport which was possible up to AutoCAD Mechanical 2018 but in 2019, and 2020 is no longer possible.  All your response has confirmed is that you possess the same problem I am having.  This is a software problem.  One Autodesk needs to address and fix!  2 years and they've done nothing!
