Can't select faces for izmo

I use 2013. in the solid attached i place the crosshairs on any face, press Ctrl to scroll through selection but the faces i want don't appear in the list

Hi,

 

from properties dialog change History to None (see below image). then you will notice that Ctrl click will work well.

but the gizmo axes aren't perpendicular to the faces.

I set the UCS at one corner with axes perpendicular and tried to move a face who's axes weren't perpendicular. the face moves perpendicularly all right but the amount isn't exact since still it's movement follows it's not perpendicular axes

Yes..this is the problem you have always to be parallel with the ucs to easily manage your model. for that i use 3DALIGN for your model and align it as well. (see attached CAD file ). OR for such a purpose i suggest to use PRESSPULL command.

See the picture, the UCS is parallel but the gizmo axes not
