CAD file not opening as read only when another user is on the same file.

Typically if a user is in a certain drawing file, when another user goes to open the same file we are prompted with a message saying that it is currently in use by said user.

I am running CAD 2019 and my co worker is running 2018. When either of us open a drawing that is already open, the error message doesn't pop up anymore. This has resulted in a loss of work since we are unaware of who is already working in the file.

Any solution or ideas as to why this has happened all of a sudden?

Are you trying to use Dropbox or something similar?

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

Where are the files stored exactly? Wrong answers would be DropBox, OneDrive, Google Drive etc.

What version of Windows is running on both PCs and/or the file server, if you are not doing any of the above?

Nope, nothing out of the ordinary. Our files are saved on our server and we open them from there. Never had this happen until yesterday.

The files are stored on a local server which everyone in the office has access to.

The computers are both running the most updated version of Windows 10 & all AutoCAD's are up to date as well.

What is your Server OS? What is new since the problem started?

Files getting tagged as open is an OS operation, there is nothing in AutoCAD (or any other program) to turn on/off, AutoCAD gets the info from the OS. You will need your I.T. person(s) to jump in and find out why your Server is not tagging files are being open.
