Automating component placement in Design

Hello there!

I am new to this so I am not sure if I am posting this at the correct place! But I need your help 🙂

My company design playground for small kids. So basically, my problem is I have a design of the area and I have a dimension of a different play-ground component,  currently, one team manually check the feasibility of different items on design.

Can we somehow automate this? In my mind, we already have a design of the area, we have a catalog of items with different information like its dimension. To automate this, is there any tool out there OR can I write some piece of code which does the job.

I need your expertise and advice. Thanks in advance!

Automate the design/placement of the equipment in an area? No such ability exists in the real world of CAD. You the designer of the space is still needed.

But... if you want to create a bunch of predefined templates (aka blocks) to place into the area (for example product A is always needed with product B, product C is always adjacent product D and so on) that can be one.

Hello,

I had student in my class a few semesters ago, she works for a local playground equipment company.  They use software that runs on top of AutoCAD and has all components cataloged as blocks.  I believe there may be a function to validate designs and check for component fits.

I do not recall the software name but if you are located elsewhere I think that the local company might share their info with you.

Contact "Playground Specialties" in Thurmont, MD.  They are a very friendly, family owned business.

Much Luck,

Blaine

Depending on the parameters of the job in question, there are numerous ways to go about this. As Pendean said, no such ability exists in the ACAD IDE. Through lisp routines or VB.net apps, maybe... This all depends on the parameters.

If you create block's of the most "used" designs, within a given area, it is possible to develop this your own needs. blyoung, has stated that he has seen this first hand.

Best of luck, and if I've miss-quoted or have been miss-informed, please correct me.
