AUTOLISP or Other Way of Testing for Matching

Hi - i frequently have to check for matching between various designs of roadways and similar things.  I have to painstakingly zoom in then measure between the new and old drawing to see how well it matches, is there a more automatic way of testing for this?

Hi,

I would use XRef to place one drawing under the old one, set the layer colors to make it easy to identify which geometry is version 1 and which is version 2.

Thanks, that's a good idea, however I am also looking for some kind of automatic method of testing how close lines are matching, some type of use perhaps of the OVERKILL command, but in a more automatic way?  any kind of lisp routine? anything?

No, that's a destructive method of checking files. if that is not the intent, XREF one file into the other, control the colors of the "good" file for contrast, set DRAWORDER correctly and the differences should really pop visually.

There are some commercial add-ins avaiable around web which allow you compare new and old versions and shows changes with different colors.

It helps you spot out the changes but you have to create the change detail report manually.
