I am going for a transparent shape filled with a solid hatch but with the rounded edges provided by the lineweight of the outline. Only problem is the line and hatch multiply. I have thought of deleting the outline, but that would also remove the rounded corners. Would the only solution be to redraw the shape with corners rounded to radii half the lineweight for a disposable 'hatch stencil'?

I don't know if AutoCAD has the blending mode option that you are looking for. There may be some things you can try in the visual style.

Some people have had some success with similar issues by converting items to polylines. It does not appear that there is a way to solve this for hatches, though.

There is a way to spoof transparency that might be worth looking into.
