Hi all.
Having problem with toolpalettes that im sharing on a network,
Im using dark colour scheme in Autocad. and when i import them to Autocad that has light colour scheme
it is still using images for dark scheme so u cant see the images.
This happens both when i import xtp files and as a Catalog.

Anyone else had this problem and know a good solution?

Best regards

Hi @Anonymous

Which version of AutoCAD are you using?

I am surprised that I haven't seen this before. Can you attach your palettes for me to test? I would like to see if changing color schemes gives me the same appearance.

Hi @Anonymous,

When I look at the files you sent, the palette icons do show up in a subfolder which is normal.  The strange thing is that most are not showing up at all in the palette.

So, my question for you is how did the palette get constructed? Did it come from a previous release?

When I go the the palette and try to Update the image or specify the image by rt-clicking on an icon, it brings up the proper window but does not show that any images have been asssigned.

The palettes are made in 2017 version.
And just made the normal way i guess..
all blocks are in the same drawing, pulled into the palette and it´s exported to the right network location.
The problem you´ve got is the same as couple of other users here.  but for most, there is no problem..
When i click the images, prop. i get the right locations for the light and dark theme.

best regards.

HI @Anonymous,

Is it possible to send me the file containing the blocks you want on the palette? I would like to recreate it on my side and see if the problem persists.

Hi @Anonymous,

I have been looking at your palette. I tried inserting the provided blocks onto your palette. As I did this I watched the images get generated (both light and dark versions) in the default Tool Palette location.  I then created a new folder for the images and moved them there. I added this location in my Tool Palette location inside OPTIONS.

I then deleted the tool palette and brought back in the original that you provided. The icons were still missing until I clicked on Update tool Image by right clicking on each icon.

Then I closed and then reopened AutoCAD several times and regardless of color scheme the icons appeared properly.

So, in summary, I suggest that if you are sharing the palettes on a network location that you verify the path to the images folder and that it indeed contains the images. You then need to make sure that this folder is in the Tool Palette path is added in Options. YOu might then have to update the icons.

Hi again
thanks for the time you put into this.

The images are all in the right netw. location and i knew i could

always right click and update the image, But i could have this problem

on 100+ computers and maby missing images on 100 block. thats rather time consuming.
But also for most users, they get the paletta from a Catalog under options\tool palette location
And the Catalog is read only, then u can´t update the image by right clicking.

best regards
David

Hi @Anonymous,

I have never had issues like this when sharing palettes before. I suspect that it is due to the image files not being accessible when the palette is located in a new location. Here is an article that might help in getting the tool palettes built properly. I suggest building a new palette in the desired network location and test it on a user workstation. If the palette is a new one to the user and all the "parts" are available, then the icons should appear. If so, then you can finish building the remaining ones.

In my trouble shooting palettes I have found giving the palette a new name will help force them to load fresh.
