AutoCAD prints gray instead of black when trying to plot with colors

Hi!

I want to plot a drawing that has 3 colors (black, red, blue). My layers have the appropriate colors (black for black, red for red etc.). However, when I try to plot, red and blue colors are ok, but black is plotted as gray! I tried the acad.ctb, but still the same. Any ideas?

Hi,

welcome @Anonymous.autodesk.com!

If the layers already have the correct color then the best first try would be to NOT use a CTB/STB. What's the result then.

Next important test: print to PDF (using the plotter "DWG to PDF.pc3") ==> does that pdf show the black color also as grey? If not you probably have less black ink in your print device?

Other option: look to the visual style of the view-port you are plotting, if it's not 2D-Wireframe then set it to "2D-Wireframe" and try plotting again.

A drawing upload would help us to support you.

Hi Alfred!

The problem with gray occurs in PDF. I want to print it on PDF file, not on paper.

I attach 2 photos, the one is from Plot Preview (black is black there) and the other is from the PDF file (black is gray there). I also have ''2D Wireframe''.

Hi and Welcome to AutoDesk Forum,

acad.ctb will plot depending on object color (see attache) for that you have to change it fo Black for the color that you want to plot in black.

Eventually, the problem was that I was using Color no255 instead of ''white'' (see attachment).
I thank both of you for your time and help! Smiley Happy

As you can read above, check your object color (and if "bylayer", check your layer color)

Black is Color 7

Hi,

please distinguish between
view in the model
View in layout
and
PDF in viewer

If the color is 7

and the plot result looks well (black)

you check if the problem changes if you set your background color to black or white: OPTIONS/DISPLAY/ [colors]

Depend on the background, Acad changes some colors on screen (only on screen, nothing to do with plot).

If the color is 7

and the plot result looks grey instead of black_

Check your pagesetup, if you are using a plotstyletable, check the plotstyle properties for this

PS: Upload facts (DWG) and we stop guessing.

If you have the same issue, the solution is also the same

If in PDF or paper the lines are gray (this was the issue in this thread and you saying you have the same problem, so your line IN PDF are not black.

Then your color is NOT 7

as is wrote

And if your lines in PDF or paper are black and you have trouble in Acad layout tab only,

then change the background color of paperspace or live with that.

All possible cases already said,

now you have to understand and testing (or change screenshot and dwg, so we can take a look for you)

a) only in Layout, but not in PDF/Paper? -> Layout background color

  or

b) also in PDF/paper gray but only if printed from layout and not from model? Check your plotstyletable in your layout

Both have same properties but one is in Model space and other is in layout space.
now why he is changing black to gray when it came to layout?

Hi,

just one guess .. viewport and layout having different visual styles set.

Sometimes text object on Z<>0 could result in such behavior.

Now i caught the problem.
actually i have very light hatch in model with transparency  but when i write any text this show draworder back to model hatch.
i mean i write text in layout and it go back to model hatch.
is there is any option for set draworder  between layout and model.

Hi,

The only setting which defines viewport content to be printed before or after layout objects can be found in the _PLOT dialog (or _PAGESETUP) here:
