Autocad plot styles not showing in paper space

I have installed Autocad 2017, and I am having trouble displaying plot styles in paper space!

A quick run down:

I have 'display plot styles' checked

The plot styles are printing fine, just not on the layout pages

Thick lines are working when I change the lineweight in layer management

The file is set to CTB not STB

This is across all plot styles (Cad monochrome, grey scale + ones I have created) / printer types and CAD files

The paper space view is not picking up any plot stlye information and is showing coloured lines of the same weight.

Any help would be appreciated! Ive dealt with it for a bit but I really need to be using that now... too time consuming with it working.

Thanks,

Anna

update: plot styles are working in paper space... but not within the viewport itself.

Can you post the drawing so we can look at it?

HI @anna.harford,

Is this behavior only in one drawing? I have seen something similar with a drawing that had a bad layout. Can you try copying the model into a new drawing to see if the problem persists? I also suggest running an Audit too.

If you can attach a sample drawing i am happy to examine it for you.

Hi @anna.harford,

For clarification, you are able to select the plot style in your plot window but they don't seem to get applied to the objects in your viewport?

Can you attach a sample file and your plot style so I can examine what might be happening?

I will echo; having a drawing and the ctb file will allow us to stop guessing and provide a solution in a much shorter time frame.

Here is my guess:

It sounds like you want LWDISPLAY to be set to 1

Sorry about the links being at the beginning, I'm on my phone and copy paste doesn't seem to paste where I want it.

Hi, I know I am very late into this discussion but I had  the same problem and fixed it.  I am at a new job and inherited some very sloppy drawings from my predecessor.  As I was preparing to submit a dwg and ctb file I went back to the dwg and  confirmed that the boxes to display plot styles and plot with plot styles in the page setups were checked.

Just for fun, I unchecked the box to plot paper space last and that fixed it.

i had the same issue.
i enter the modelspace from the layout tab (MS), then regen (RE), and then come back to paper space (PS) and then they showed in the printing colors.

While in the plot window, click the arrow button, lower right corner.

Thank you chriscowgill7373  for the tip to turn LWDISPLAY to ON! I was getting black lines on white background, but no lineweight variation, they were all thin. Solved! Thanks again.

One option can be:

- in layout tab, double click in viewport to enter and don't select anything else

- in properties tab under 'Misc' will be visual styles. Change this to '2D Wireframe' (Also shown as drop down at top left of viewport window.

- you don't need to unlock viewport

- regen once done to trigger change

NB There are options to counter this for people needing 3D layouts by using different plot styles and layering setups (20 ways to do stuff in ACAD)
