AutoCAD not opening

Anonymous

AutoCAD 2016 Student Version lately stopped working, when I open the program the "autodesk customer involvement program" window pops-up and AutoCAD just stands still nothing is clickable! so I uninstalled this version and tried to install AutoCAD 2017 Student Version also, but when I try to open it, it just starts loading and a message pops-up saying that AutoCAD 2017 is not working, and it closes automatically... So again I downloaded AutoCAD 2016 Student Version and the same first issue happened again!

Is there a way to solve this issue please?

Hi @Anonymous,

and welcome to the forum.

You say that the program worked and now it is not? Have you tried to log in as a different user and start the program?

Any difference?

If so, your profile is damaged and you have to setup a new user.

Please report back to me.

Thank you

Hi @Sofia.Xanthopoulou

Yes it was working perfectly few days ago untill it started showing license errors! I have an educational version so I ignored these errors!

I logged in using a different account and downloaded AutoCAD 2015 Student version, but still not working!

Hi,

>> Yes it was working perfectly few days ago

Just a guess: a few days ago ... until your Windows was updated to release 10?

...or other updates/software packages/drivers where installed or a registry cleaner was active?

What happened on your system between "a few days ago" and today?

Hi @Alfred.NESWADBA

No I already had windows 10 for a month or two... and I didn't update anything! 😕 It just started showing the error that the product is not properly activated, and later it stopped working!

Now I tried to open AutoCAD 2015 and it's showing another error!

Hi,

well, 2015 is not really ready for Windows 10, you might try to install the Windows hotfix as described >>>here<<<.

To your steps.

When 2016 stopped you tried to reinstall it, then you installed 2017, then again you tried 2016 installation ...

My feeling is your system is not really in a stable situation.

I would uninstall all AutoCAD releases (using Autodesk Uninstaller or following exactly(!) >>>that workflow<<<.

Then make your decission if you want to run 2016 or 2017, download the installation files from Autodesk Virtual Agent >>>there<<< and follow the instructions for how to install software (login as admin, turn off antivirus software, turn off firewall)

Good luck, alfred -

Hi,

>> I followed the steps

Screenshot "07 issue" shows me, that some step(s) were not done correctly, otherwise the installer would not find a newer version of AutoCAD.

That's why I wrote "exactly" to follow the steps.

Without a clean system it does not make sense to try the installer again and again, first your workstation has to be free of every single part of prev. AutoCAD installation.

Screenshot "09 issue" shows, that there are troubles with your graphic card (which one is it, in case you do have multiple GPU's built in let us know both).

Yes, I found what was I doing wrong... this time I did follow the steps and the "newer version is already installed" message did not show up.

But still after installation, I disabled my internet connection then launched the application, but it freezes!

I attached a picture of the graphics card information

Hi,

Great, so installation seems to be finished successfully!

Look to the manual activation >>>click<<< as your first screenshot shows that this hangs.

Also worth to try: create a new user, give that user admin permissions, login with that user account and start AutoCAD.

Good luck, - alfred -

Hi,

just to make sure, this is the part of your screenshot "14 issue"

20160531_1712.png

For me that looks like either you are working in a virtual system or via a remote system or you have not installed your graphic card driver.

"Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is not really a graphic card driver, it's just an emulation for the real gc as long as the correct driver is not installed. And that can be your source of this (and more) problem(s).

Hi,

>> Still have no clue what problem is.

What versions are you speaking about, seems like you have 2, but which ones?

>> Both versions working on my desktop.

If they are working, what is the issue then?

When I click on either icon to open Autocad, I get message that states
"autocad has stopped working". Then I get pop up box to send error report.

Did not have this trouble last time I opened software(in early summer). Just
two weeks ago and forward.

Thanks ,
