Autocad file extremely slow on One machine - Runs fine on another machine

We have two workstations running AutoCAD 2023.  Most times, they both work well.  We have had a few times in the past, and one current example of a specific issue where if Workstation A has a drawing open, and Workstation B tries to open it, then from that point in time forward, Workstation B will always struggle to edit that file.  Workstation A will still be able to edit that file with no issues.  What on earth could be causing this?

Not sure it matters, but we are on a network.  I've checked, and there are no apparent security or speed issues with the network.  Even when workstation B struggles with one of these files, it will still open and run other network files without issue.

I'm attaching a file exhibiting this issue.  I've tried audit / recover, and never found anything.  This example is from our standard drawing practices and .dwt file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On the problem PC, try to open other DWG files as "read-only", with no one else in them, and see if the slowness is still there is each of these other files only

NOTE: TEST FILES ON THE NETWORK, AND FILES ONLY ON THAT PC.

Pendean,

I tested on the local desktop.   File was laggy when opened.  When opened as read-only it was good again.  So, what is the solution, as I'm unable to work in read only mode.

How odd. Based solely on what you wrote in this thread, your local IT person will need to dig deeper into the OS to find the choke points that are causing the lag. Autodesk offers this long laundry list of items to check:
