AutoCAD and Vault, renaming files.

Good Afternoon Keepers of Knowledge,

Renaming files in my Vaulted projects is very tedius.  Right now, I follow these steps:

1. Create a local copy of the file and rename it.
2. Remove that drawing from the project.
3. Add the "new" drawing to the project.
4. Check it into the Vault.
5. Delete the "old" drawing.

I put "old" and "new" in quotes because they aren't old or new versions.  They're the exact same drawing, but the have a different name.  

Anyways, I'd like to be able to just rename it from the project manager.  Am I doing something wrong, or is the process truly that convoluted?  Is there a command or possibly a lisp or VBA routine I could run that could do it for me?
