autocad 2023 idea

Hello again,

I've been using autocad since 2015 and I've also used Revit since 2015.

I prefer to have a white model space background rather than the default black.

It is cleaner and way clearer.

Can autodesk please make the default background in Autocad white instead of black?

You do know you can change that in AutoCAD anytime you want without waiting for Autodesk to do it for you, right? it's been around in AutoCAD forever (or close to it) and includes AutoCAD2015 https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/AutoC...

If you mean manually (OPTIONS>COLOURS>BACKGROUND) then yes I do know that. Why must model space be black by default?

I included Revit in the preamble as an example by the way.

REIVT is REVIT. And it was bought by Autodesk, they did not have a hand in developing the software, so they pretty much have not jacked with those settings and may never will. Or will they?

AutoCAD is different, a much older software, has always had this ability, and Autodesk seems to go out of its way to never change anything that old in the software. Why do they do it? Who knows, no one here has any part of the software development so your guess is as good as anyone else'.

If you wish to feel better by "doing something about it", you are most welcome to ask Autodesk for whatever you desire here where they look for feedback https://www.autodesk.com/company/contact-us/product-feedback and with any luck and 10000s of other users like you asking for it might make it happen in 2-5-10-20 versions from the current 2021 versions.

It's not so long that they have changed the UI color to even darker. They made some research and found that it's better for our eyes... so. Better set the background to white yourself because they're heading in the opposite direction.

Put your request in the Ideas Station for AutoCAD. Just changing the background because of ONE person isn't a good use of programmers time.

If you've set it after you've installed it, it'll be there forever.

@Tomislav.Golubovic There is no Idea Station for AutoCAD precisely due to this type of request.
