AutoCad 2017 slow?

Hi!

Recently upgraded from AutoCad 2016 to 2017.

My impression is that 2017 is way slower and more laggy than 2016.

Same happens for my other 2 colleagues running 2017.

Running Win7 Pro, SP1, 64 bit.

Intel Core i7-3740QM @ 2.7GHz, NVIDIA Quadro K2000M.

Any settings I can change to make AutoCad 2017 running smoother?

Graphics Performance

I had Citrix Receiver installed to enable use of GoToMeeting. I will stick to WebEx from now on.

Understood on the graphics card, but I have not found any options for a thin notebook with a dedicated graphics card.

I almost always forget that emptying the Windows Temp folder nearly always fixes the slow menu load times, refresh rates, mtext editing etc.    Thanks for the reminder !

To go one step further, you can turn off REGENAUTO, might sound like something you shouldnt have to do.  I find I have to force regen allot, so there is no advantage having this setting on.  Try it, the speed is certainly worth it.

Hi @moycoas

welcome @forums.autodesk.com!

>> because my AutoCAD is running slow

From what I see on your screenshot is that AutoCAD runs software emulated gc, so I guess you need to update (or downgrade) your graphic card driver.

Most important, when you write "running slow" please describe what exactly is slow.
To better document how your workstation is doing: record what you see as slow using Autodesk Screencast (>>>free to use<<<) and if it's drawing specific then please upload the drawing you are showing in your video so we can recreate the same situation.

Okay, this is an example.

I tried to trim something, and autocad freezes. (video atached)

Another thing that happens sometimes, is when i am wrighting a comand, if i put it fast, the program dont catch the full command. for example C P ENTER for coping, autocad does the command circle.

HI,

>> I tried to trim something, and autocad freezes

Please upload the drawing with this hatch. If the hatch has the tree as island then it's really complex with maybe thousands of vertices, that can make the program slow, especially if you do have the property window open (do you have it open?)

>> when i am wrighting a comand, if i put it fast, the program

>> dont catch the full command

I would recommend to turn on the command-line and dock it at the bottom of the application window.

Also worth to try:

  • disable dynamic input,
  • turn off the command line options ==> command _INPUTSEARCHOPTIONS
