AutoCAD 2016 Not loading font style Romans.shx

We had an issue where AutoCAD 2016 wouldn’t load the font style RomanS.shx though we did confirm that it was properly downloaded and installed.

At the same time the built in Dictionary isn’t working on that machine either. When we try to spell check it comes up with an error message.  Image attached of the error message.

Installed the shx font where?
How do you know the font is not loading? what are you looking at, where, how are you verifying?

Read this for the pop-up error: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-...

We first confirm where the program was pointed to for its font style had the require style in the folder

We expect AutoCAD may not be loading the font correctly because of the error icon next to the fond. While in the Style menu a symbol appeared next to the font style selected. (See attached image). Strangely it was showing the font as “romans.shx” and not as “RomanS”.

To make sure it wasn’t a bad font file our IT department downloaded the style and placed it in the folder.  We did a test plot and the font still wasn’t plotting correctly. The same drawings plotted form another machine plotted correctly and didn’t show the icon beside the font style name.

Agreed, the yellow icon means it's missing.
So where exactly is the font located on this workstation? My guess is you are not removing the bad definition, it is in a folder AutoCAD searches/finds first so it uses it first.

Start OPTIONS command, FILES tab, expand the entry SUPPORT FILE SEARCH PATH, move up the "fonts" folder path to the top of the list, ensure that is where you are locating the replacement ROMANS.SHX file that you've confirmed works; click APPLY, click OK. Close and restart AutoCAD.

Then test again.
