AutoCAD 2015 - Font type Properties window

Sinds autocad 2015 the font of the properties windows depends of the font (size, name) from windows 7.

In autocad 2014 the font is nice with aliasing.

Now in 2015, the font is to clear. If i chose another (fat) font in windows 7, like Arial Bolt, the font changes in the properties windows, but's still not nice to see.

Does anybody has the same problem, or maybe a solution?

Windows OS is 32bit or 64bit? Your video card is what? driver version?

is 2015 fully patched and updated?

I'm working with windows 7, al updates installed.
The video card is a Nvidia GeForce GTX570.
The attached image above is a screenshot from the same system: left is autocad 2015 and right autocad 2014.
I just installed (5 minutes ago) AutoCAD® 2015 English 64-Bit Service Pack 2.
Same problem as SP1.

ps. I like the SP2 update. Some things why i didn't use the 2015 release are fixed now 🙂  (solid editing, ctrl to copy layout etc)
Now the 'Font Fix' and a floatable layout tab and i'm happy.

Hi Eric,

As you have found, the Color and Appearance settings from Windows do have more control on AutoCAD palettes now. In addition to changing the font in Windows, you may be able to adjust the display further by making the following adjustments:

  1. In AutoCAD OPTIONS>Display tab, use the Dark Color Scheme
  2. Set Windows to a Basic or Classic theme, rather than an Aero theme (this also improves graphics performance)
  3. Make sure your screen resolution is under 2000
  4. If your monitor is capable of high display sizes, set it to 150% or less
  5. Adjust ClearType text: Start>type clear type and Select "Adjust ClearType text". Run through the Tuner wizard

If you would like to provide additional information on this behavior, please take the time to go here: Product Feedback. This is a feedback page where customers can make suggestions. This page is monitored by product managers who affect real change and this request can go a long way in changing the product for the better.

Thanks 🙂

Although not exactly the same problem, I would like to confirm that there are display problems with the AutoCAD2015 Properties Palette. In the animation below, notice that the all the text on the right side of the Properties palette is larger than the text on the left side, however if any of those fields is selected, the text instantly reverts to it's correct size. This also causes other display problems with the Properties Palette that I've reported earlier, but I just wanted to clarify that not all the problems with the 2015 properties palette can be fixed by changing Windows settings, rather Autodesk need to clean up their code.

Hey Eric, I've came across similar issue and have managed to figure it out. So be sure to check the attributes of your AutoCAD shortcut. If the shortcut target line has /nologo attribute you will experience this jagged fonts in every tool palette inside AutoCAD 2015. Probably this can be caused by different attributes as well. So first of all try launching AutoCAD 2015 directly from your installation folder by double-clicking acad.exe. And see if that helps.

By the way if you also experience weird border on the right of your screen make sure you specify template DTW file in your shortcut target as well (this fixes UI bug).

P.S. And I'll just leave my shortcut target line for successful AutoCAD 2015 launch here (you can skip /product part if you're running vanilla AutoCAD 2015):

"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2015\acad.exe" /product "C3D" /language "en-US" /p "AutoCAD 2015" /t "AutoCAD (Metric).dwt"

I'm totally agree with you on that nestly2! And in case someone from Autodesk stumbles upon this thread I'll link another discussion we had earier (on palettes UI problems).

Never would have figured out this was the solution. It was driving me nuts because I couldn't figure out what I had done that would cause 2014 and 2015 to look so different even though they are controlled by the same Windows font. Thanks for posting it!

You're welcome! Unfortunately there're worse bugs in AutoCAD 2015. See at least these topics and beware: 1) transparent Mtext/Text with TTF in style can't be plotted - http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2013-2014-2015/autocad-2015-terribly-weird-printing-issue/m-p/... 2) FLATSHOT command is broken - http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2013-2014-2015/flatshot-command-is-broken-in-autocad-2015/m-p/... 3) DPI scaling isn't working for UI - http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-2013-2014-2015/why-autocad-2015-is-still-not-hidpi-compatible/...
