AutoCAD 2015 Circle Selection

Has anyone noticed it to be difficult selecting circles by crossing in Autocad 2015? Is ther a new system variable or is this a bug?

Hi,

>> difficult selecting circles by crossing

Can you please describe (or show) what's happening for you?

I can't see any issues:

Seems to work fine here: post a DWG sample, point to the circles in question, let's all look at your file.

The image shown is in 2015 and is crossing all the circles, but does not select them as the same procedure in 2014 would select all the circles.

Hello

A few ideas :

Q1) Have you the problem with Graphic Hardware Acceleration disabled ?

Q2) Are your circles near from X=Zero & Y=Zero ?

Q3) Which graphic card on your PC ?

and which driver version ?? Which date ???

Is it possible you are in "Paper Space" and trying to select objects in "Model Space"

No problems here with crossing selection (From Right to left)

Another example with a blank 2015 file, circle along with rectangles. The 3 green retangles are crossed and highlighted, but circles which are crossed are not.

Image from 2014

Image from 2014 all are highlighted

It works if crossing as you show when one corner falls inside the circle. Try with corners outside

Hi,

I tried exactly what you showed in your screenshot, look to that video:

CrossingSelectionWithCircles_2015_AN02.gif

I would try:

  • a different drawing with the geometry close to 0
  • verify your hardware acceleration, try both states, on and off
  • if you have a dual screen, try AutoCAD on both displays (restart AutoCAD)
  • reset your AutoCAD profile (or try to login to your Windows with another user account and see if it works then.
  • and at least see if you have a chance with gc driver update

Good luck, - alfred -

Thanks for your help!
Your animation proves it's is on my system and not a bug.
I have tried Hardware both on & off, geom. close to 0,0,0
& switching to out-of-box profiles. No luck.
I greatly appreciate your time! Thanks again!

Hi,

maybe a repair-installaton of AutoCAD is a help, at least really try to update your gc-drivers (and look to the certified drivers >>>here<<<).

It's frustrating when things work on what ever version. Upgrade and thing that were fine are now broke! Arggg!

Message 14 of 28

Had this same problem

So in the registry renamed

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R20.0

Then restarted AutoCAD and it reinitialised. Then behaved ok, even after reimporting profile that wasn't working before the registry reset.

Thanks Graham!

What did you rename "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R20.0" to?

Message 16 of 28

Anything - I just put an o on the end. It then doesn't see the original name so reinitialises when you start AutoCAD next time.

Thanks! I did try that and the problem still exists. I'm going to try a re-install!

hi Jeff,

I'm assuming you did the reinstall (by the name change) and have 2015 installed.  During the install did you import a profile/settings from 2014?

If so, try doing a "Reset to Defaults" and see if that fixes the issue (you will loose all of your customizations).
