Array switching to a 3D display (why?)

(Check the icon to see the switching of display mode)

It feels like the new Array function was meant ONLY for 3D use. Which i find quite a silly thought.

Noticed this behaviour over several new AutoCAD releases and it keeps bugging me.

Autodesk, can you please stop this mechanism?

It is a useless waist of time / computerpower.

Hi @hanslammerts,

Thanks for updating your thread on this issue. I have confirmed that the team is aware of this behavior. I am not at liberty however, to discuss any timeline for when this will be adjusted.

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

'Not at liberty' ?
You mean, don't expect any improvement because AutoCAD developments is a stage zero budget.

Hi @john.vellek ,

Were you successful in figuring out why this might be happening? Is there a setting in autocad I could change? The Visual Style change makes my work much slower than need be...

Thank you!

So you can have another reason to hate Autodesk.

Its a confirmed bug. And i am not a great fan of bugs. Not being fixed year after year. Hate me for that. You just keep paying your your bucks and think it's soulgoodman.

This 'forum' is just a good way to channel frustration where it needs to flow.

See you next year?

Wow! Same issue here! Array 2023 is awesome! Just please, please remove the 3D wireframe when editing the array. A 2D wireframe is light and quick to edit and move on. No need for fancy 3D background that takes all your resources.

You’re confused!
The issue is there. I own a high, high-end computer and as soon as try to use arrayedit command the whole background goes into 3D wireframe mode. There is no need for 3D wireframe. 2D wireframe is just perfect.
I was able to create a macro that automatically change it to 2D wireframe. Just feel bad for all thousands of users that had deal with it.

For what it's worth!

Here is the macro to modify the command ARRAYEDIT

^C^C_arrayedit _s \$M=$(if,$(or,$(and,$(eq,$(getvar,"tilemode"),0),$(eq,$(getvar,"cvport"),1)),$(eq,$(getvar,"blockeditor"),1)),_vscurrent;,_vscurrent _2)

You can go inside the ribbon directory and find Rectangular array options > Tabs > Rectangular Array Options, them modify the macro. 3D wireframe no more.

Any solution for now? the problem seems to be still happening in 2023!

For me, I try to switch back to the 2Dwireframe view which can help a bit.

It seems robdraw hasn't posted since late August.  One minor improvement to the forums.
