Hi,

When you have a drawing and you want to calculate an area in sqm , which is the best way?

The scale is 1:100  and 1.5m in real dimensions is displayed by 15 in the DWG.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

>> The scale is 1:100  and 1.5m in real dimensions is displayed by 15 in the DWG. <<

this is weird and have NO sense to be 1.5m = 15 . depending on your drawing units and i think it's Decimal (meter) the 1.5M must be either :

  • 1.5M (in real) = 1.5m in drawing.
  • 1.5M (in real) = 150cm in drawing.
  • 1.5M (in real) = 1500mm in drawing.

there is a lot of way to calculate area in AutoCAD :

  • AREA command  >> Click <<
  • making hatch in your space and by properties dialog (Ctrl+1) you can know the area.
  • making polyline around the area and by area command (object) or properties dialog (Ctrl+1) .

Note : The total area number that you will get will be calculated depending on your drawing units ( m,cm or mm ).

Good Luck..

in my test i was able to change my units to Scale inserted Content from M,cm,mm and not impact the result

my dimension style is set for Decimal with a suffix of M

I set the precision for both high for accuracy
