Alphanumeric grid

Hi everyone,

I would like to create an alphanumerical grid with customizable dimensions. I have included a picture of what I would like to make. I would appreciate any advice you may have on how to create something like this.

This will be used for a photolithography mask to produce small square
patterns. There are thousands of squares for each design, and I will need a
way to not get lost while examining the squares under the microscope. I
want to space the markings every 10 squares, and maybe even delete the
squares underneath the grid markings for easier reading. Here's a picture
with the grid overlaid with the squares.

The unit is important, do you need them in mm?
