After publish, FIELDEVAL is set to 4

Does anyone else have this problem?

In our template, FIELDEVAL is set to 23.

We have dynamic fields on all layouts referring to "ctab" (the current tab name) but after publish FIELDEVAL is 4 on all open documents. 😞

It's enough just to type PUBLISH then cancel the dialog and it will still change to 4.

I saw that this was a bug in Autocad 2007 and fixed in 2007 SP1 but we are running Autocad Mechanical 2014 SP1 and still see the same thing.

Any suggestions? I can't add any startup code or similar to fix this as it would be needed to be done in a lot of computers.

Do you have any custom applications (lsp) associated to your AutoCAD?

We have a custom application for Autocad Mechanical 2014, but I have also tried it in a clean Autocad Mechanical 2015 with the same results.

To reproduce it, this is what I do:

1. Open a new file in Autocad Mechanical 2015

2. Type FIELDEVAL (It's 31)

3. PUBLISH (and press cancel or go ahead and publish)

4. Type FIELDEVAL again (now it's 4)

FIELDEVAL is saved within the drawing, you confirmed this is happening with any drawing file?

If so, see if there are any custom settings in the ACADDOC.LSP file.

I couldn't find any custom stuff in any of the .lsp-files.

It changes FIELDEVAL in all open files, regardless of what document is active at the time I run "publish". I guess it might be because publish goes through all open documents and lists all layouts, not just the active one. I just tried it with one of the tutorial files and same thing happens. Could the bug still be alive in Mechanical but fixed in regular Autocad?

No ideas? It would be cool if someone could try to reproduce it on their Autocad Mechanical 2014 or 2015 installation, or if a moderator could move this thread to the Mechanical-forum. I sent a question directly to Autodesk but no answer at all. We had to revert a lot of work because of this. 12 people are working in Autocad daily in this company and we really need dynamic fields to update. 😞

Check the Fields setting under Options > User Preferences.  Should be on the lower left hand corner of the Option dialog box.

Yes it looks like that is the same problem in that old thread, and it doesn't look like Autodesk is interested in this at all. I reported it as a bug but got no answer. I guess we will have to do without dynamic fields.

The only solution (since autodesk just dumps in features and then abandons them) is having a lispreactor that changes 4 into 31 every time that autocad messes up. Just setting 31 at start up does not do the trick (which I guess is not very unique), because autocad messes up the value almost at random.

If anyone could make such a reactor, that would finally fix what autodesk has neglected to do. It's beyond my current skills to do so.
