3D printingtroubles

I am having

Spoiler
problems this morning trying to print in 3D. when I send to print service under the output tab, i am asked to select the object. When I right click on the object then left click to enter, it asks me to select object again. It is as if the object isnt recognized asa 3d object. How do I make it a witertight mesh like it asks for. I made the object using the extrude command. Not sure where to turn.
Spoiler
Thanks.

You should be left clicking to select, then right click to enter.

Ok. I am directionally challenged. I am left clicking on the object then right clicking to accept. That part I am doing correctly. I just stated the wrong way. Message says no watertight meshes selected.
My apology for the confusion.

Bryan

Do you have a solid body?

Does List or Properties return 3D Solid?

Can you attach the dwg file here?

I teach high school and am just about 5 minutes ahead or 5 minutes behind
my students. I ahve attached the drawing and maybe you cantell me what
needs to be done. I have tried to join the parts but this does not help.
Any advise is appreciated.

I do not see attachment.

Are you replying from a phone or from a web browser?

What is the size of the file?

If it is too large to attach here - right click on the file name and select Send to Compressed (zipped) folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here.

If it is still to large to attach here - post back for instructions on using A360 drive to host the file.

Propterties indicates that you have Region and several Surfaces.

You must have a solid to create an stl file for 3D printing.

Run the surfsculpt command and select all to get a solid for exporting.

There are no solids in that file, lots of surfaces though.

Thank You. That did it. Now my question is why did only some drawings turn out like that whily others did not.

An understanding of Surface Modeling vs Solid Modeling is required.

You might start with the AU presentations linked here

http://home.pct.edu/~jmather/content/CAD238/AutoCAD_2007_Tutorials.htm

unfortunately the information is a little old as I seldom use AutoCAD anymore.

If you do a lot of mechanical type work - I recommend that you look into Fusion 360 or Autodesk Inventor.
