2014: Default Export to PDF location is no longer the last folder exported to

So when I used to export to PDF, AutoCAD would open the explorer window and it would be open in the last place I exported to (e.g. My Documents). If I export more than one sheet in one job, I want them all in the same folder, so once I'd exported one PDF sheet, I could then export all the rest to that same folder quickly (e.g. if one was exported to My Documents\[Job Number]\PDFs, all subsequent export commands would open that file path by default, as it was the last path used).

I don't know what I've changed, but now when i export to PDF, it *always* opens to an old file path that I haven't used in ages.

How do I set it back to "default export location = last location used"?

I know there is a way to do it, oithers have spoke of it: http://www.cadforum.cz/forum_en/forum_posts.asp?TID=7812

So do other commands, like SAVEAS and WBLOCK also now behave differently and do the same exact thing?
Did you recently change REMEMBERFOLDERS variable? It may do that too.

FWIW If this always needs to be one single location, why not just add that folder to the vertical folders list on the far left side of the pop-up and always go there when you need it?
Assuming my LT2016 is not too different from your LT2014 of course 🙂

Why don't you consider either adding more info, or taking the time to answer my questions to the original post.

Simply stating "me too" rarely works for remote help.

Dean,

I can do that.

1. So do other commands, like SAVEAS and WBLOCK also now behave differently and do the same exact thing? NO

2. Did you recently change REMEMBERFOLDERS variable? NO

3. FWIW If this always needs to be one single location, why not just add that folder to the vertical folders list on the far left side of the pop-up and always go there when you need it? NA (does not always need to be in one single location)

To elaborate, I used Export to PDF as my main tool to create PDFs from AutoCAD Drawings. Yes, I understand there are many many other PDF creating options, but this is what works best for us/me.

The problem: Suddenly, a couple weeks ago or so, the default location became a specific folder (recently used to place sheet sets from another job). This was never the case, as Export to PDF would always default to the folder previously used to exporting a PDF.

When I go into Export to PDF - Options, I see the Location is set to the specific default folder. When I select the "..." to expand the options for Location, there are 3 file paths listed, but nothing like "previous folder". I don't even have the option to leave this blank. Somehow this default folder became set.

So, this brings me to my question. Does anyone know of a setting that I may have changed inadvertently which now affects the Export to PDF file location?

I understand if this is not enough information to completely answer my question, but my hope is that a dialogue can begin which leads to a resolution.

Thank you for taking the time to respond.

EXPORTPDF simply plots using the default pdf pc3 file, it's just a simplified interface that assumes the plot presets in the file tab are "good enough" for your needs: if you use PLOT command, as a test, and select from any of the core PDF drivers (R2016 offers many) does it also default to this one and same folder?
And if you EXPORTDWF and also PLOT to DWF, does it also behave the same way?

I suspect yes: this is a WIndows Registry setting more than likely since it's not a variable in AutoCAD to change. I'm not sure where that is honestly as I like to output PDFs to a single specific location only. Wait and see if others want to jump in with that info.

or automate with lisp and skip all the pop-ups to start with: this last post here will get you started http://www.cadtutor.net/forum/showthread.php?87278-Plotting-Need-AutoCAD-to-default-to-the-same-loca...

EXPORTDWF DOES behave the same as EXPORTPDF, however PLOT to DWF uses the Default location for plot to file operations in OPTIONS

Hi,

I don't have the guts to try it again, if I'm wrong I might get the problem back...

But what I think happed to me was that I set the default location to a folder that I later on deleted. And since it can't find that folder anymore, it goes back to having the lates folder as default.

If that was what happend, it's an easy fix! 🙂
