Units not saved correctly

Hi everyone!

I'm a new autocad user in an introduction to autocad course at college, and I have a question about changing units. I was taught that to change the drawing units to use the Units (Command), and change the drop down menu option to millimetres (what we are expected to use). However, after I did this for an assignment and submitted it, I was docked marks because my prof (a windows user) opened my .dwg file and my drawing was in inches.

Any ideas what went wrong here, or perhaps is there somewhere else I need to change the units as well?

Thanks!

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi @n01430349

You need also verify that:

- the "Type of units" in "Units" window is "Decimal"

- System variable MEASUREMENT = 1

- System variable INSUNITS = 4

Awesome, thanks so much, Maxim!

I also found that if I set up my drawing using -DWGUNITS (setting it to <3>, then accepting the rest of the settings) BEFORE drawing anything, this also ensures the correct units across the board.

Cheers,

Nic
