Plotstyle sharing between pc and Mac?

Hello,

I wonder if anyone else has had this issue.

I have created a plot style on my Mac version of AutoCAD LT 2021, and shared it with a colleague who works on a PC. When they try to plot using that style, rather than plotting lines as black, which I set, the plot style reverts to 'plot as object colour'.

If we both open the same plot style using AutoCAD Plotstyle Editor, all of my colours are set to plot in black, and theirs set to plot as object colour.

I attach the .ctb plotstyle, cad drawing, and pdf as it should plot.

Has anyone experienced this? And if so, do you know of any solutions?

Thanks in advance.

Show us: post a sample DWG file long with your plot style table that it uses/is set up for, we can try it for ourselves.

@pendean - good idea 🙂

Just updated the post to include plot style, cad drawing and pdf.

Many thanks.

Thanks for the files: your CTB files are named differently (in the DWG file vs the CTB file name), did you send the wrong one? Lose track of the one that is referenced in the DWG file? Something else?

I have sent the correct plot style. It is the plot style I that I used to do the test plot to pdf. The dwg just happens to have the previous version referenced.

Fix the DWG file, test it over there, if it works for you, post the corrected DWG file here please.

FWIW when sharing files with anyone you want to take the guesswork out of it for them, instead of trying to save a few minutes on your end for whatever reason.

I look forward to your corrected DWG file.

Thank you @pendean.
I have just amended the file and re-uploaded to the original message. Hopefully this comes through correctly now. Many thanks for your time.

Thanks for the updated DWG file: a test plot to PDF in AutoCAD 2021 in WindowsOS gives me a very close duplicate to your PDF from MacOS, so perhaps the problem all along was how the DWG file was saved?

Thank you @pendean - appreciate you testing this for me. I'll send over a new dwg file to my colleague and see if they can get the same output as you have here. I'll report back tomorrow! Thank you!

Unfortunately when my colleague opens the plot style it has reverted to colour:use object colour. See attached comparisons between my plotstyle on Mac and colleagues plotstyle on pc.

I'm not sure it has anything to do with the DWG file, but more how the plot style comes across from Mac to PC.

Hi @ewalshaw82 ,

I tested ctb file you attached here and it looks the same both on Mac and on PC:

So I cannot understand why it looks different on your colleague PC.

Hi @maxim_k,
Thank you for testing this out. Interesting to see that you get the same result on pc and Mac. It 's a real mystery! I'm not sure we will manage to figure it out. The best solution we have found so far is that if she creates the original plot style it is fine from PC to MAC, it only seems to be a problem when I create the plotstyle on my MAC. PC to MAC ok, MAC to PC not!

@ewalshaw82 They my have an older copy of your plot style table, and are not using your current one.

Your CTB on its own is not changing: I suspect you and your colleague need face time together to resolve who's lacing hat files where etc.

Hi @pendean,
We have had a number of face time screen shares and done multiple testing, and tried different ways of sharing the files, creating the files etc.. I don't think it is to do with using old copies of the plotstyle. We have found 'workarounds' but I just wondered if anyone else had experienced this issue.
Could you clarify what you mean by "lacing hat files"? Not heard this before.
Thank you!

Thanks.

But this file works fine in my tests on PC and on Mac.

I thought there was another file with the same problem...
