PDF size and output

PDF file after saving has 8.1MB which is nothing unusual, but I got feedback from clients that file is not workable (long time to load, blurry, issues with zoom).  I manage to shrink DWG file to 3.9MB with all recommended steps (CONVERT, XREF, OVERKILL,...) I wonder if anyone has same experience , is there any print setup which can help.

Hi @jfPMYR5 ,

What autoCAD for Mac version do you use?

What printer do you use for PDF output?

Do you have raster image or PDF underlay attached to DWG file?

Can you share your PDF file here?

Hi Maxim,

I Use AutoCAD 2023 version.

For this case I used AutoCAD PDF (Smallest file).pc3, before I usually printed on DWG to PDF.ac3, but both created PDF have similar issue.

The drawing has no Xref or underlay.

@jfPMYR5 ,

There are billions of lines in your drawing, which is why the PDF size is so large.

I don't think there is a way to compact such PDF.

@jfPMYR5 Late to the party... May I ask if these many smaller elements were blocks at one time and have not been exploded? Do you have a pre-exploded version you can share with your client? It would behave much better than what you shared here.

I meant the full rows being ingle bocks, not just each individual rack for example: on my above-average PC any PDF viewer or editor I use to open your PDF I can literally watch each individual rack appear in each row as your full floor plan appears. Then it repeats every single time I zoom in or out in the PDF.

Quite time-consuming for a PDF sheet size that you created honestly: for example, does your PDF really and truly need to contain this level of detail?

In our office we emphasize "understanding your target audience" and I suspect your complaining recipient may not need that level of detail on a 33x46 PDF sheet. It's worth asking them if they do or no, the level of detail you created belong on detail sheets, not an overall plan sheet. FREEZE those layers before creating that PDF again, they are very unnecessary I suspect.
