Object Snap not working in Autocad for Mac 2017

Hi ~ I have just upgraded from Autocad for Mac 2016 to Autocad for Mac 2017 and am having a problem with the object snap function.

It does not work in the sense that the little green box indicating that there is a "snap" does not appear. I have checked the settings in object snap and they are the same in Autocad for Mac 2017 as they were in Auotcad for Mac 2016, but the problem does not appear in the 2016 version and only in 2017 version.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated - thanks.

Hi,

Please share the value of the AUTOSNAP system variable:
At the command prompt type AUTOSNAP and hit Return, you will see the value.

hi ~

When I enter the command you suggested, it reads "enter new value for AUTOSNAP <39>".

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

The default (initial) value should be 63, so try to set it to 63:
When AutoCAD asks: enter new value for AUTOSNAP <39, type 63 and hit Return.

hi Maxim,

Thanks for your suggestion. I tried it out and here's the results.

In the original document (in Autocad for Mac 2017) where the problem first arose, I changed the value to 63. Still it does not work. The same document (saved in dwg 2013) when opened in Autocad for Mac 2016, the value appeared again as 39 and there is no problem for object snap as usual.

Next I tried using an old document first created using 2016 version. I changed the value from 39 to 63 in the 2017 version. What happened is that object snap works for the old drawings. But when I drew something new in that document, it does not work again (no little green boxes). The same document when I opened in 2016 version, again the value reverts back to 39 (which seems to be the default), and object snap works as usual.

The weird thing is, this problem did not arise on day 1 of using the 2017 version. I have been using it for a few weeks and before today it has worked as usual. And then, I don't know what happened, as I wasn't trying to change any setting, but may be I accidentally "touched" something which caused the setting to change, and then I was stuck with this. This has been extremely frustrating.

Will appreciate any further thoughts/suggestion - thanks.

Hi Ken,

One of the ways to revert back AutoCAD to the default state is to Reset settings to default. You can try this.

BTW, Autosnap settings saved not in the drawing, but on application level.

Hello Maxim!

I am having the same issue of Object Snap not working. I followed your 1st couple prompts and it's set to 63. How do I set it back to default?

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi @Anonymous,

Please specify AutoCAD version you are using.
And describe your problem in more details:
Do you see AUTOSNAP marker in the drawing area?
Do you have this problem from the beginning or it appeared accidentally?

If it appeared accidentally - have you tried to Reset AutoCAD?
