No 'Visual Styles Manager' Panel??

Hi there,

This may be a stupid question and may possess a simple resolution, but I cannot figure out how to open up the 'Visual Styles Manager' panel in AutoCAD 2014 for Mac.

When I click on the 'Visual Styles' option at the top left of Model Space next to the 'View' option, a list drops down, obviously with all the preset visual styles, but with 'Custom Visual Styles' faded and unclickable. Does this option ever become available? I would love to create and customise some of my own visual styles..

Please make me look stupid.

Cheers,

Devin

Welcome to Autodesk Forums!

Hi Devin,

There is no Visual Style Manager palette in AutoCAD for Mac, but you can create and modify visual styles from the command line with VISUALSTYLES command.
The workflow on Mac:
- you change one of the Visual Style related system variables
- than you save changes to the custom Visual style with VISUALSTYLES command
- than you will be able to see the name of saved custom Visual Style in Viewport label menu.

Hi Maxim,

Thank you for the response. I had a feeling it didn't exist.

Might there be a reason the VISUALSTYLES command is 'unknown' for me?

Is there an alternative way to saving my customised version of a preset visual style, or is the VISUALSTYLES command the only option?

Thanks again!

Kind regards,
Devin

The only one way in AutoCAD for Mac is to use -VISUALSTYLES command (yes, with dash before command name):

http://docs.autodesk.com/ACDMAC/2014/ENU/files/GUID-78A4FB1E-257E-4268-ADD8-E935801BCCF2.htm

Good afternoon!

I need to create some non-standard visual styles in AutoCAD 2016 MAC with different types of lines. For example, I need to get in the mode of hidden lines were visible the hidden objects dotted line. How it can be implemented?

Hi,

The only one way is to use this article as "which variables control different visual style settings" reference:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2015/ENU/AutoC...

and than use additional help from this page:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACDMAC/2016/ENU/?url=/view/ACDMAC/2016/ENU/files/alphabetical-list-of-...

to set Visual style related system variables according your needs.
Than after you set everything as you need, you can save new named visual style with -VISUALSTYLES command.
The visual style will be saved inside current drawing, you will be able to select it from visual style list in Properties palette or in "Custom visual styles" section of viewport controls (upper left side of the current viewport).
