Mu symbol not displaying as "M" or a square box

Hello,

I am having an issue with a project that requires the "Mu" symbol. For some reason, it only displays as a "M" or a square box, depending on which symbol I choose. I've done some digging and apparently it may be due to some missing .SHX files.

Does anybody know how to fix this issue?

Thanks for your time.

Hi @ihuynh1 ,

Do you use SHX based Text Style?

If so, then GREEKS.SHX and GREEKC.SHX font have Mu letter (latin "m" on keyboard)

If you use TTF based Text Style, you can insert special characters in multiline text with context right-click menu:

Hi Maxim,

Thanks for replying. I checked my texts and it seems like both greeks.shx and Greek.shx are both missing. Do you know how I can add those .shx files?

Greek also doesn't show up under character viewer like you have shown.

Thanks,

Ivan

Hi @maxim_k ,

I checked my contents packages for AutoCAD and apparently the both greeks and greekc.shx files are there but I still cannot use the Mu function as it still displays as a "M".

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Ivan

Hi @ihuynh1 ,

Uppercase Mu will show as "M" - check if Caps lock is turned on, when you type.

You can add "Greek" characters to the list:

I spent a week trying all these options and none worked for me. Installed 39 fonts and spent way too long trying to fix and couldn't get it to work. In the end the simplest thing sorted it 2 clicks for the fix - right click while on MText and unselect ALL CAPS and works beautifully.
