from Illustrator to Autocad (spline)

Hi all,

I know that there's a way to export a project from Adobe Illustrator to Autocad (polyline), but I need to convert it in spline.

Could someone kindly tell me how to do?

Hi,

If you mean straight segments, than it seems impossible to force Illustrator to export them as splines (curved paths always exports to DWG as splines).
But I can not understand why you want straight segments to be splines in AutoCAD?

We are a graphic studio, which design custom signs. To design our works, we use Adobe Illustrator.

When we realize projects engraved in iron, we turn to a company that has a special machine for cutting of this support. they have explicitly asked us to send them the .dwg project, but in spline instead polyline.

We don't use Autocad, but if I understand it, the problem is that cutting in polyline is more structured and requires long times, while in spline is more simplified and rapid. 

This makes sense? 🙂

Polyline is less structured than spline - I'm sure.
If you have only curved paths in custom signs, than they will be exported to DWG format as splines.
I know only one application, which exports to DWG all kind of paths (curved and straight) as splines - it is CorelDRAW.

There used to be an add-on for Illustrator called DWG Export that did a better job of creating what you seek: but they haven't had an update is a long time.

Look into getting AUtoCAD to fix your Plines into Splines there: download a trial versionand test for yourself for free for 30-days.
