Flatten drawing the got z values by mistake?

Hi,

I'm working on a project currently where we've drawn the site plan (intended to be 2D) and for some reason a number of the lines were not constrained to a Z value of 0. Any ideas on how to flatten it now? I'd rather not redraw the whole thing. I've tried running the .lsp file for flattening, all the x and y values for the objects change as well and the site plan gets scattered all over model space.

Any help would be great.

Hi Lisa,

At first you need to set UCS to World:

Than use PLAN command to set viewpoint perpendicular to the current UCS:

Now try this trick:

Or you can select all objects in your drawing, than use Properties palette to show properties for each type of objects (just open drop-down list at the top of the Properties palette, where you see "All(xxxx)" and select each type of objects one by one) and set their Z value to zero.
For example for LINE objects you need to set Start and End Z to zero, for TEXT set insertion point Z=0, for POLYLINES set elevation to zero, etc.

Hello, I have the same problem with AutoCAD 2022. I tried the FLATTEN command but the app freezes and I have to force quit it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Usually FLATTEN command works fine with drawings.

Does AutoCAD freezes with FLATTEN command only in particular drawing?

I was able to flatten your drawing with FLATTEN command without freezing AutoCAD.
I noticed that view direction was not perpendicular to XY drawing plane, so at first I used PLAN command to set view to XY plan. Then I used FLATTEN command with "don't remove hidden lines" option and after a few seconds I got flattened drawing.
